Mrs. Akers was the longest, continuous attending member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where she served in multiple roles and on the Altar Guild many, many years. Mr. Akers served in the US Navy. He was a Master Electrician with I.B.E.W. #637 of Roanoke and former Electrical Maintenance Supervisor at the Radford Ammunition Plant. He was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where he served as Trustee, member of the Vestry and was Treasurer. He was a member of MENSA; member of Masonic Lodge No. 82 and Odd Fellows Lodge.
