Large Sterling Soup Tureen By Gorham
Greek Revival style circa 1860-1880. Marked with Gorham hallmark and 30. Bearded masks on each side and each handle. Greek key design to borders. Oval lid is topped by a rampant lion and shield finial. Monogrammed on each side. Descended through the Johnson family to Caroline Johnson, first cousin to John Greenleaf Whittier, then to William Wallace McClench. Mrs Johnson at Oak Knoll, Haverhill MA.
